The vertical tower blueprint and cut-list generator. Floor area, height, ports and crop spacing turn into the exact frame build — pipe lengths, channel counts, site and reservoir size, pump and misting flow, water use and build cost — with a green—yellow—red feasibility read.
Plant count, flow, yield and cut length stack by size; the dashed arc is material cost. Structural stability holds in the centre.
12 parameters · live recalculation on every change
This is a deterministic model: the same inputs always produce the same outputs, calculated entirely in your browser with nothing sent to any server. It is a planning aid — not a quote, not a dosing instruction, and not a yield forecast. Treat every line as a working estimate and validate it against your own prices and measurements.
It models one system: The vertical tower blueprint and cut-list generator. Floor area, height, ports and crop spacing turn into the exact frame build — pipe lengths, channel counts, site and reservoir size, pump and misting flow, water use and build cost — with a green—yellow—red feasibility read.
The engine computes 10 outputs from your 12 inputs. The headline number is Total Plants (plants), alongside Total Height, Footprint, Water Flow. Every output updates live as you change a parameter.
Outputs depend on the inputs and assumptions shown here. Confirm relevant measurements and local conditions before acting.
System delivery: NFT flows 2 L/h per plant, aeroponic 0.5 L/h, DWC 4 L/h. Yield multiplier is 1.0 for NFT and DWC and 1.2 for aeroponic; aeroponic adds 1 m of pump head for misting pressure.
Material cost per metre: PVC $20, ABS $25, food-grade $35. Add $1.50 per net pot, $0.50 per litre of reservoir, and $0.05 per L/h of pump rating.
Yield per plant per month: lettuce 0.30 kg, tomato 0.50 kg, cucumber 0.60 kg, basil 0.20 kg, strawberry 0.15 kg, microgreens 0.05 kg. Multiply by system factor for the tower total.
Stability banding by height-to-diameter ratio: under 15 is stable (8-10/10), 15-20 is marginal (5-7/10), and over 20 is red (1-4/10) — anchor tall columns.
Pump head = tower height x 1.2 plus 0.5 m of fitting friction plus the system premium. Keep head under 5 m for GREEN; 5-8 m is YELLOW; over 8 m is RED.
Water flow total = total plants x flow per plant. Footprint is the column base only; the cut list adds tower height, one pocket-ring wrap per level, and 2 m of feed tubing.
This model combines the earlier Tower-blueprint-generator, Vertical-tower-blueprint, Aeroponic-tower-blueprint models.
A vertical hydroponic tower blueprint is the full build sheet: column height and diameter, pocket levels and plants per level, total plant count, floor footprint, water flow per plant, required pump head, a PVC cut list, and material cost. This generator produces all of it from five core inputs.
Build an aeroponic tower by stacking planting rings on a sealed column, running a high-flow pump to the top, and misting the root zone instead of flooding it. The blueprint adds 1 m of pump head and uses 0.5 L/h per plant, with the yield multiplier raised to 1.2 to reflect faster aeroponic growth.
An aeroponic tower needs the column and pocket rings, a 5 L/h-or-better rated pump sized from total flow plus head, misting nozzles at each level, a reservoir, net pots, and a timer. The pump head estimate in the blueprint covers the 1.2 x height lift, 0.5 m friction, and the 1 m aeroponic pressure premium.
A DIY tower garden costs roughly the column per metre ($20 PVC, $25 ABS, $35 food-grade), plus $1.50 per net pot, $0.50 per litre of reservoir, and $0.05 per L/h of pump. A typical 2 m, 32-plant build lands near $120 in materials.
One tower fits levels x plants per level. A standard 8-level tower with 4 plants per level holds 32 plants, an 12-level aeroponic tower with 6 per level holds 72, and a 20-level compact tower with 2 per level fits 40. The blueprint always shows the exact count.
Cut the PVC column to the blueprint cut list — tower height plus one ring wrap per level plus 2 m of feed tubing — drill pocket holes at the plant spacing, cap top and bottom, and connect the pump and reservoir. Food-grade pipe is recommended where crops touch the column.
